Elizabeth-

I am absolutely honored to get to work with you.  Your passion for Shakespeare's language and storytelling has been such an inspiration.  I truly believe that the backbone of this production has been your pushing us with your endless enthusiasm.  Some of my favorite rehearsal memories are when you would show us witches your inspiration videos or stopping a scene to add another layer of staging.  Your vision made beautiful words on a page come alive.  Along with having a beautiful perspective as a director, your swords a sa mentor have been majorly impactful.  From advice to me about individual character building, emphasizing community and kindness to the cast, and the worlds best compliments in the form of "epic" you were our rock.  I hope that you know yow impactful you have been to us all.

It's hard for me to imagine what my life would have been like the past year without this show.  You have given me the opportunity to delve deeply into such and incredible and fascinating role, and for that you will never know how much it means to me that you took a chance on me.  Your passion and insight were crucial for me to be able to perform the role as I have.  You are such an empathetic director, and your belief in me pushed me to do so much more than I ever though I was capable of.

I really enjoyed THEA320 with Professor Tanner!  She was very knowledgeable in many areas of musical theatre.  Cares about every one of her students.

Ms. Tanner-

Elizabeth-

I fell in love with this program when I saw Spelling Bee, but I had no idea then how amazing the person behind that show was.  I am so incredibly grateful that I get the honor of working with you.  I grow more impressed with you every day.  You are such an amazing teacher, director, and woman.

Thank you for believing in me and learning how I worked.  You used that to push me to be a better performer than I ever thought I coudl be.  Rehearsals and classses have rekindled my love for Shakespeare.

Thank you so much for your continued support, encouragement, patience, excitement, and trust.  Your upbeat attitude, realistic advice, genuine compassion, and humor have had such a positive impact on me.

From the first day of Acting 1, I knew we were going to get along.  You have lighted a fire for acting in me I didn't know I had; you've helped me achieve things I never knew would be possible for me and opened up a future that I finally feel excited for.

I am extremely grateful that our artistic pathways crossed and that I have gotten to learn from you.  Since the first day, you have taught me not only about artistry, but also personal growth.

It is always a joy to work with you in shows and in class.  This semester you have pushed and challenged me to new heights that I did not know I was capable of doing!  Your love for Shakespeare is infectious.  You have inspired all of us and once again have truly captured lightning in a bottle that encompasses pure magic!  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Elizabeth is amazing!  She holds her students accountable because she wants everyone to genuinely try and do their best.  She gives amazing feedback and is genuinely one of the kindest and constructive professors I've ever learned from.

Tanner is amazing!  Definitely a trust the process kind of prof.  Super considerate, gives great advice and is very animated.  Participation is really important, so don't take her classes if you know you want to coast through it.

Elizabeth-

This past year working with you has been such an absolute pleasure.  I appreciate all the guidance and trust you gave to me.  There were moments in the process where I wasn't sure I could handle the weight of this role or if I'd be good enough.  You, challenging me and encouraging my choices, boosted my confidence not just in this role but my acting as a whole.  As you always say, "Up and Out!"

Professor Tanner is the BEST!  I took Theatre 101 1st year, and she helped me realize my love for theatre.  She personally helped me get involved and i cannot thank her enough for her guidance and care.  She truly cares about her students and the material, is incredibly passionate which make the class fun!

Theatrical Reviews

Elizabeth Christine Tanner
as
Electra
by
Sophocles

Tanner’s vivid portrayal of the tragic heroine presents us with an Electra who, despite all that has befallen her, maintains a strong sense of dignity. Her Electra is passionate, desperate, and seems at times to border on insane. Throughout the play, she is a woman of strength and endurance, with a level of intensity that carries in her words and shines through her eyes.

Original music by Paul Auksztulewicz and Matthew Dunn heightens the intensity of the emotions conjured by the ensemble, led by Elizabeth Christine Tanner as the heroic Electra, whose reunion with her brother could easily move one to tears.

Elizabeth Christine Tanner
as
Paulina
in
Winter's Tale
by
Shakespeare

Elizabeth Christine Tanner makes much of Paulina’s glorious denunciations of a stubborn, stupid leader. (We could use this kind of eloquent critic today.)

Elizabeth Christine Tanner
as
Lady Macbeth
in
Macbeth
by
Shakespeare

Tanner's brings truth and terror to the role of Lady Macbeth through her mastery of Shakespeare's text. Her portrayal of a power-hungry woman is not one to be missed.
